wellWater Efficiency

This home is completely self-sufficient with regard to water. It has its own 510 ft well, which contains 600 gallons of storage and has flow of approximately 8 gallons per minute -- more than enough water to accommodate a family using the bathrooms and kitchen simultaneously, especially as there is very little landscaping irrigation required. The above photo shows the well shortly after its completion.

The house has its own sewage system, set well away from the house. In this way, the municipal facilities are not accessed for either water or sewage.

Inside the bathrooms and kitchens, we have installed modestly efficient fixtures and fittings, which can be made more efficient through the installation of aerator caps etc to limit water usage if the homeowner desires.
