To meet our goal of creating attractive and comfortable homes that are also energy- and resource-efficient, Petrides Homes has conducted original research about the past, present and future of green building alternatives. Company founder George Petrides, a scholar of techniques like digital fabrication and systems building, has completed research projects that have taken him from Columbia University to major building firms in Japan. It is this commitment to knowledge that allows Petrides Homes to offer expertise at all stages of the homebuilding process, from creative conception to impeccable execution.
Our current prefabrication project in development is CountryLoft™, a new line of LEED custom homes that will use systems building to create country retreats with the industrial aesthetic of 1970s SoHo. CountryLoft™ synthesizes the best of green building concepts with innovative new design elements to provide high quality at a rational price.
Our research has been shared broadly, including at the American Institute of Architects convention, directly with architects and with the Museum of Modern Art's architecture and design curatorial staff. The latter used our research to get a "head start" in the area as they were preparing their exhibition "Home Delivery," exhibited in the Summer-Fall 2008.
Start learning more about the concepts mentioned above by perusing a few key works like field notes from Japan or a presentation about systems building.
