Throughout the first floor, wide plank flooring of Old Growth Eastern White Pine, up to 17 inches wide and 16 feet long, have been hand sanded, hand rubbed with custom stain and finished with polyurethane for durability. The wainscoting and paneling in each room represents a different historical style, including raised flat panels, vertical beadboard, horizontal beadboard and full-wall wood paneling. All-fir doors in four-panel style feature brushed brass hardware. The Greek Revival interior moldings are based on the patterns of Asher Benjamin, whose influential texts dominated mid-nineteenth century American design, and Minard Lefevre, a mentor of Stanford White. Antique reproduction lighting fixtures, many of them custom crafted for the house by a local forge, also embody the living history of the Dutchess County area.
