Combining his talents in finance and architectural design, George Petrides founded Petrides Homes LLC in 2003 to develop homes that are unique, elegant and economical - for the owner and for the environment. Since then, he has been involved in every aspect of residential development: raw land acquisition and development, including subdivision and conservation; project financing; schematic design and costing of the homes; construction management of all building phases; marketing and sales. Throughout the development process, he works to cut costs and increase green elements without cutting quality. He leads a team of in-house staff and coordinates a wider group of architects, attorneys, engineers, builders and sub-contractors to create homes like the ones illustrated on this website.
After receiving his AB with honors from Harvard College and both an MBA and MA from Stanford University, he worked as an investment banker, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. He held the position of Managing Director in the Mergers Group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. In 2001, he decide to pursue his dream of having his own company that would use all his talents to create homes similar to what he would want for his family and himself.
George attended Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture for a year to further the architectural studies he began as an undergraduate, then started research on sustainable development, including prefabrication and Japanese manufactured housing, which he continues to conduct. He has presented this work in a range of venues, from the American Institute of Architects to the Museum of Modern Art.
His volunteer work includes overseeing the buildings of The Brick Presbyterian Church, as well as serving on two non-profit boards.
